In partnership with Carlyle Lake, the City of Carlyle, Il, and the US Army Corps of Engineers, MSE Racing is proud to return to you the CAPEX Triathlon. In military applications, a CAPEX mission is a Capabilities Exercise - time to show off all YOU are capable of! On race morning, enjoy a swim start every as rare as they come as you load onto a platform and are taken to the epic start of your point-to-point swim, but that isn't all. You'll revel in the famously flat and fast roads of Carlyle, the view over the spillway of the dam, and much, much more!!

ATHLETES WILL HAVE THE RACE EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME. At many races across the country athletes begin their race from the beach, sometimes they tread water waiting to begin, or stand knee-deep waiting to hear "go".
Not you, for you the rarest of starts await from a platform built and maneuvered into position. You will jump in and swim straight back. Epic start to an epic journey. You will board the raft with your fellow athletes and be taken out to your start point. You will have a few moments to gather their thoughts as you reach the 70.3 start. A few moments later Olympic athletes will take off, and finally the sprinters. Point to point swims are rare, so be ready for an adventure because reaching your start you'll be jumping in and beginning your journey!! Ride across the flat planes of Illinois, often beside the lake, but always with a flat road rolling below you. Finally, run along the spillway for a view over the largest man-made lake in Illinois. It sinks into the horizon as you run past - heading toward your finish and glory!! |

BIKE
With quiet country scenery and the flat roadways the Illinois countryside is famous for, CAPEX offers a single shot loop for your ride to catch as much of the view as possible while speeding along smooth surfaces on quiet rural highways! |
RUN
Run along the spillway for a view that can only be seen to be adequately described. Whether you are under quiet tree cover or running past the rushing water on the opposite side of the dam as gulls chase fish, your run will be filled with sights and sounds to keep you entertained without losing your focus on the finish line!! |
